<"Turn off the sun and see how long life persists.">

Therefore the ancient Sun Worshippers win the prize in the "Religion Closest to Truth" sweepstakes!!!!

Congratultions to any surviving members!

:o) Ann

BTW, just in case you ever need the following info for a trivia contest: John Knox in the 16th Century was ranting against Mary Queen of Scots insistence that the flock must attend mass(opposed to Knox's teachings at the time) when he wrote "The First Blast of the Trumpet Against the Monstrous Regiment of Women." He argued that since women are "weaker" by nature, that is, according to human nature as constituted by our creator--then why should the weaker be placed above the stronger?(of course he used bible passages as evidence)

Sounds like "political dirty trick" to me.<ggg>

Chuzzlewit,

<<Now just look at the internal contradiction here: A gas is a mixture of particles of
different kinetic energy, but it will never separate itself into two halves, each half
of the gas a different temperature. True, but if you apply energy to such a system you
can generate heat pumps and air conditioners.>>

You have completely missed the point here. Air conditioners and heat pumps did not pop into existence. What is the random chance they ever could? Zero. They were created by man, an outside force acting on matter in such a way as to form it into a useful machine which functions according to certain laws we understand. It is not related to the questions of the origins of the universe.

An object at rest tends to stay at rest unless acted upon by an outside force. But for you to be correct the object must move WHEN IT WAS NOT ACTED UPON BY AN OUTSIDE FORCE. The laws of the universe we occupy say that is impossible. So what ever got the ball rolling? That question you cannot answer which means your entire belief system is based on faith and not reason because you are saying it must have but you don't know how. That is no different than me saying it was created by God.

After that then the only difference is my faith is based on knowing God who I have met and resides with me. Knowing God exists, it is then obvious that He created the universe just as He said. The problem is that in order to meet God a person must first believe that He exists. If a person calls, He will answer! But you do not believe He exists therefore cutting yourself off from Him. That's the state of things right now for you.
