Well, it is not that a loss of money means little to me, it is that these fluctuations are insignificant. Yes, you could have sold at a high price and bought back in at a lower price, but that is on paper. You don't lose that money until you sell. Don't worry so much about paper losses unless you are in for short term minor gain. As to the PR person blowing you off ... unless the market is moving on news, that person probably has no idea of what is happening. Normal market fluctuations are not something that they have any control over nor do they worry about much. THEY are in it for the long haul and a year from now, a 20c swing will really be nothing ...
