Cisco has no chance of filing a counter suit against LU.

On what do you base this assertion?

If LU were to look more closely, they'd probably find a whole bunch of patents that Cisco has violated.

Why do think they didn't look closely already?

Like I said, Cisco had better settle. They may win 1 or 2 patents but 8, not a chance.

If Cisco feels they have even 1 or 2 patents, basic to some aspect of networking that would be contained in LU products, then they would push for a cross-licensing agreement, perhaps with fees involved in one direction or the other.

Also Cisco will have to begin re-implementing the infringements (if they can).

Worst case would likely be that Cisco would pony up whatever patent licensing fees are "fair and equitable" relative to what other networkers like ASND, NN, BAY, COMS, etc. currently pay LU. These can sometimes be as high as 1-2% of revenue on affected products.

I'm sure everyone can rely on your track record, the fact that you are always wrong re Cisco.

Btw, does BAY have any patents, other than the ones for lousy execution and bad mergers?

<< And despite what the IDIOT engineers from Cisco on this thread say ... >>

hey, stockman. just to let you know there are a few of those "idiot" engineers from cisco that lurk on this thread, and I thought I'd let you know you have a fan club. the entertainment value from your posts is priceless! seriously! the previous top spot went to dilbert, but those cartoons only come out once a day. with a tail wind, you can get through four or five posts in the same timeframe. (and each one is far more laughable ...)

true, dibert knows more about the IT industry than you, but, hey, he can't compete with your volume! keep it up.

don't let us down now! keep the drivel coming ...

OMIGOD, Stockman! You're right! I'll sell all my CSCO immediately, because CSCO is going under.

Give me a break.

You must be a short. " Bloated IOS" ..... that is selling like hot cakes.... CSCO must being doing something right if the likes of NT and LU are worried about them to the point of spending billions and filling law suites. If CEOs of both NT and LU are losing and sleep, it's because of CSCO....

Re: "Chambers is a SALESMAN, whose idea of R&D is if you spend $X you can get what you want. And despite what the IDIOT engineers from Cisco on this thread say about RFC's, RFC's are just bunches of paper without implementations."

Hey Stockman -- It's amazing what people will say when they can hide behind an alias. If you are going to start personally insulting a company and the people that work there, at least post your real name. Otherwise, this comes across as cowardice. Since I started reading your posts about nine months ago, I think you could have seen at least a 150% gain, if you would have bought Cisco stock at that time. Instead, you spend your time insulting Cisco, its employees, and its investors -- calling all stupid, idiots, morons, etc. Why would you think anyone could take you seriously?
