Hi, James!!! Well, just as you decided to drop by the Feelings thread, I took some time off. I really enjoy your posts at Ask God, so I hope you will continue to post over there!! Thank you for your compliments about my creative, artistic household. I like to think of it that way, also, but sometimes a mess is just a mess!! ;^)

I bet it is hard to be a Libertarian and an environmentalist!! I can't imagine the two being compatible, because the Libertarians seem to be very ideological in their approach. What I am wondering is how much science is enough to convince people that there are serious problems with a very limited window of opportunity for solving them. Do we have to get every scientist on earth agreeing? That will never happen, so what should the guidelines be?

Unfortunately, I think the environmental issues quickly become political, because if we admit they are real, then it logically follows that public monies will be required to clean up the problems, and that industries will need to be regulated so that they do not pollute. How do you think, practically speaking, that we can solve all this?

Your sentences about the ancient bristle cone pines and the spirituality of walking around them were beautiful. That is where I find my own religious experiences, in nature. I am lucky enough to live a few minutes from the Pacific Ocean, which is awe-inspiring, as well.

I agree about the trees. This is going to sound weird but sometimes when I am in place a like what you described (old growth trees) I actually am overwhelmed with emotion. For me there is something very spiritual about trees. And I am not a religious or spiritual person trust me. The ocean does it to me to. The ocean is very calming for me.

My 2 cents......oh that reminds me of a stock I own. LOL
