>>way around Windows 95 Setup not liking your version of DOS. In my opinion the Windows 95 Startup floppy disk is a lot more useful when these files are added to it. With the appropriate files added to the startup floppy disk the startup floppy can be used to implement a clean install of Windows 95.<<

My problem is finding the appropriate DOS files for the CDROM:)

Water under the bridge but... Setup for Win95 OSR2 did not like Win95 OSR1. If I could have loaded OSR2 first (as described in your post...using the CDROM drivers) I could have skipped the OSR1 load from floppy discs.

The Win98 startup discs will include CDROM drivers. I do not know if this is for an initial load or a startup disc that one creates after the installation. If they are not included on the original boot disc it would still pose a problem if one could not access their CDROM.

How universal are the CDROM drivers? If one has no documentation for the CD drive how do you make a boot disc with the appropriate drivers? Do they go in the autoexec.bat or config.sys. I think I have seen them in both.
