Three news items about CRUS products:

biz.yahoo.com

One even looks like a design win for the internet appliance market.

is it just me, or do I feel that the non-PC "device" market is about ready to hit critical mass?? I mean, everything like hand-helds, set-top boxes, appliances, etc. There is a pent-up demand worldwide for Internet access but not everyone wamts to (or can afford to) own a PC. What's more, people are starting to see the PC as a communications device. A few years back, 90% of PCs were used for word processing & spreadsheets. I wouldn't be surprised if within a year it'll be 90% usage for e-mail, internet, communication. But as a communications device, the PC is sorely lacking. Bulky, hard to fit in pocket, no room to have too many in house, unwieldy to look up a phone number or recipe on the fly, etc. Most users do not need such workstation-strength computing power, anyway. So I think the portable/communication market will be huge. The question is, is CRUS the one to share in the rewards (and the hype)?
