Michael, Your're right, there is a contradiction. Can you seperate the wonderful friendliness and quality of life that many Canadians enjoy from the social programs..? What actually works to provide a balanced society....is it the French or Swedish models or the USA model..? How about the Indonesian model..? If left to their own excesses all these systems will self-destruct. What was invented here in North America remains an active experiment still evolving. Hopefully Canada is up to the task of re-balancing their structures and moving forward. Vancouver is a wonderful place....my wife did a lot of work for UBC a few years ago and we had the opportunity to explore that community. Skied at Whistler and enjoyed the BC Lifestyle. What was driving that economy was the Asian money...has it stopped coming in..? Thanks Chip
