Re -- Secondly, as you said, there was no guarantee(or even a hint right now) that LU would come after Bay in Oct;

Why is it important for the Bay/NT deal to complete by Sept ? Most mergers take about 6 mos to get approval. The DEC/CPQ deal was announced in Jan, and only recently got approval.

Even if LU does not have a bid for BAY, Waiting till after OCT will defintely prove that one way or the other!!!

Furthermore, John Roth mentioned that he wanted Bay for a whole Quarter. He KNEW that after the disastourous 3Q results when Bay's stock took a dive that he could get it CHEAP

House IMO was "bribed" to sell out BAY.

Paul,

Re Importance of meeting expectations for quarter:

Why is such great emphasis placed on mtg expectations for a current quarter? I would think that the emphasis should be placed on forecasts for future years and the likelihood of meeting same. E.g. the current quarter IMHO depends upon too many factors that BAY does not control.

FWIW.
