Thank's for your reply, Chris. Just find a Bible verse that says in plain English that the soul is undying or immortal. Match these:

"The living know that they shall die, but the dead know not anything."
"in death there is no remembrance of thee"
"The dead praise not Jehovah, neither any that go down into SILENCE.
"Man in honor abideth not; He is like the beasts that perish"
"Thou hast destroyed them and made all their memory to perish."
"They shall be as tho they had not been"
"The living know that they shall die, the dead know not anything."
"They shall sleep a perpetual sleep and not wake"
"The soul that sinneth, it shall die."

Psalm 6:5
Psalm 115:17
Psalm 49: 12 & 20
Obadiah 16
Ecc 9:5 & 10
Jeremiah 51:39, 57
Ezekiel 18:4 & 20

Jesus said "No man has ascended unto heaven" John 3:13
In mark 12:20 Jesus, explaining the resurrection, states that Jehovah, the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob is a God of the living. In John he said the resurrection was in the Last Day. Since the Last Day hadn't come they weren't resurrected. They were alive in Jehovah's memory.

You interpret this mean their souls never expired, but the scripture doesn't say that. Please, Chris, find scriptures that say what you believe, not what you think they mean.

Jesus promised resurrection on the LAST DAY John 6:40,44, 54
Jesus called Lazarus' death SLEEP. John 11:11
Martha told Jesus her brother would rise in the LAST DAY. John 11:24
Paul said some disciples had fallen ASLEEP 1 Cor 15:6, 18
Christ was the firstfruits of them that ARE asleep 1 Cor 15:20
so no one, includes Abraham, had been resurrected to heavenly life before that. All resurrections were to resume life on earth, except in the case of our Lord.

1 Thessalonians 4:16 promises a rising when Christ returns,
not instantaneously with death.
