<<Chandra was particularly scornful of Albright's comment that India has squandered the pacifist legacy of Mohandas K. Gandhi and of India's first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, who often irritated the United States back in the 1950s by calling for a global ban on nuclear weapons, an objective India says it still seeks.>>>

Once Gandhi was asked whether he will kill a venomous, hissing and attacking cobra, he told that when his life was at risk, he would do what was needed and necessary to thwart that threat, even if it meant killing the snake.
Albright's pronouncements are out of context and not all bright, esp when she should know that India is surrounded by enemies, big and small. With due respect and great admiration for personal sacrifice Nehru made to India, Nehru and Krishna Menon did not have the foresight to see the chinese threat. This China-India-brothers thing did not impress the Chinese, then or now.

I met Nehru during my college days. How could I say things like that about Nehru and Krishna Menon? Hey, you know that in India even Gods are not immune from their devotees' chiding, criticism and sarcasm.
