>>Great monitors can look poor also<<

I've been out looking at monitors and have seen
some Sony Trinitrons that look horrible and sitting
next to it was a generic that looked better.

When asking the techie he said the problem is that
the Sony was hooked up to a Packard Bell whose
graphics card and drivers were not capable of
running the Sony at its best.

So when looking at monitors at the store, take
care to note what computer and graphics cards
are running them. It can make a huge difference.

I am pretty much set on buying some 17" ADI Microscan 5Gs; 26 dp.
Its warranty is 3.5 yrs on the CRT. Cost is ~ $340.

For more money, I would probably buy the Mitsubishi,
but I keep looking at the prices drop on the flat
pannel 6" thick monitors and tell myself that it
won't be long until I put my money into one of those.
