Clean: I snipped this out of Norman's link three or four posts back:

Today:

<<STOCKHOLM, Sweden (CBS.MW) -- Swedish telecom equipment maker Telefon AB L.M. Ericsson (ERICY) has begun acquisition discussions with three American networking companies, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday. An Ericsson executive told the Journal that the companies were each worth several hundred million dollars. ADRs of Ericsson rose 4 percent Wednesday on speculation that it would buy 3Com (COMS) or Ascend Communications (ASND) after Nortel (NT) bought Bay Networks (BAY) for $7.7 billion. But Ericsson said it was looking at cheaper start-ups. Possible targets include Hypercom Corp. (HYC), Juniper Networks and Newbridge Networks Corp. (NN), the Journal said. (The Wall Street Journal)>>

I saw a news piece elsewhere that said Ericy was not interested in Coms.

Juniper is an awesome private company that Ericy currently has a piece of. What do you think? ...Tim

I'm trying to fish up a response to a ERICY+USW merger. USW has just split-off Two weeks ago, U S West split itself into two separate companies. From yesterdays Dow Jones Onlines News:

Two weeks ago, U S West split itself into two separate companies, with U S West Inc. handling phone services and the other, MediaOne Group Inc., handling cable-television fare.
Market watchers say U S West's move to split itself was a tacit admission that its previous strategy of simultaneously pursuing an in-region and out-of-region play in the two industries didn't work out. The split leaves U S West a stripped-down phone company, much as it was before U S West began its push into cable in 1993. Unleashed from the cable business, the Bell might become an attractive takeover target for other telephone companies,...

"Like wise USW has a announced they have there own VDSL tech for an all in one internet/phone/cable TV service over copper wire.
Like I said I'm just fishing and would appreciate someone commenting. I'm not afraid of looking stupid I have teenage kids who are all ready convinced."
