Tim,

I'll try....kinda....
1. INVX is shipping 500-1000k/week HIF units which replace wires.
2. HTCH is shipping 1600-2400k/week TSA units which replace wires.
That knocks off 2-3 million.
3. PC unit shipments may be slightly up but the mix is decidedly skewed down such that the number of disk heads per PC unit has fallen. That is what wire sets track, not PC units alone. Scratch another million.
4. One year ago was the very peak of the overbuilding cycle. Scratch a couple million off what you are comparing with. (Remember? They were talking about 18 million of capacity as the end of 97 target.)
5. DD makers did have an inventory problem, both in front of them (distribution channels) and behind them (materials). Some still do. Scratch another couple of million.

Adds up to "be happy for a tightly run ship and a solid gold balance sheet". Save any tears for KMAG, APM, and RDRT. Now they have real problems :o)

Best Regards......Tom
