Dale, BTW: CPQ is asserting Alpha is 2 years ahead of Merced (See my previous post) do you thing that is true? In terms of floating point performance yes. In terms of being 64 bit, yes. In terms of everything else, probably not.. but those are 2 big draws of the high-end. Clockspeeds Alpha probably has a 6-8 month lead on Intel. Steve

Besides, do you think Alpha is going to come out and say "When Merced gets here we're as good as dead"? I see this as the natural response from Alpha. They have 2 years to make claims before they have to face real competition so they may as well take advantage of it. EP
