Opala, your defense of Ellen can be seen as insulting and sexist!!!

Martin is a highly competent person with a wide understanding of both the science and the financial aspects of the biotechnology industry. Of course she is not a free agent. That indeed is my point. When some boss does not follow her advice and does something stupid you can blame the boss, I will blame her, for not being convincing enough. Why? Because I also give her the credit when XOMA does things right. Who went with Castello to the Bio Tech meeting in N.Y. to work on potential deals with other companies? Martin! She is not just some "I.R" person. Read her background. She is a power-house. Given the small size of XOMA it is a good sign of upper managements intelligence that they hired such a talented person.

Do you agree that the bigwigs, in most firms, probably hate following suggestions from an I.R. person? I think this is true. It is already too easy for I.R. to simply blame the idiots at the top. My message to any p.r. department at any firm is hey it's your job to get these powerful people to pay attention.
