Chiming into the censorship discussion....

Personally I would very much like to see much stronger censorship by the SI administers.

I don't want to see any ideas quashed, but I do wish the rude and abusive posts and posters would be warned and booted at a much earlier stage.

All that junk is freely available at Yahoo for those who find it of value.

My feeling is that the abusive stuff is a waste of my time, it upsets me, and tends to frighten away the more thoughtful posters resulting in a greater number of posts, more ugliness in the world and shallower thinking.

Best to all, Peter

tell that to the newspapers...

Ever hear of an editor? While only a minority of letters to the editor usually get published, most newspapers freely express opinions. So SI is acting just like a newspaper when it makes a decision as to what is appropriate content for its readers to view.

SI does not inhibit freedom of speech. Regardless of any decision made here, you are free to create a web site of your own and fill it with as many platitudes as you desire.
