Chip,

While I admire your optimism, going through the doom and gloom scenarios is all part of a necessary reality check. I was formerly very bullish on this stock, but read more into the MONTY downgrade than was stated in the report, and have since closed my long position. I think that MONTY knew that there were no major design wins for Banshee. In all likelihood, TDFX had delayed introducing Banshee for this reason alone. IMHO, the specs are not what I would consider to be a breakthrough, and thus, I do not see any reason for the long-term secrecy.

While some may flame me on this thread for being a weak holder, I have cut my loses and moved on. Having bought DELL and MSFT at 80 and 83 3/4, respectively, with the cash from my TDFX sale, I am sleeping much better these days. I have never been successful holding on to a losing position with only hope as my guidance.

As a V1 and V2 owner, I still think they make an excellent product, and am still optimistic that V3 will be yet another breakthrough offering.

Good luck,
Ryan

9.) (Hopefully) Some boardmaker will figure out a way to offer Banshee's 2D capabilities with SLI Voodoo2's 3D capabilities on a single board and offer the "Ultimate 'Doo"

And Mountain Dew could offer a $20 rebate coupon in their 12-packs!

Cheers,
Tim

SLFN (Still long for now)

For your reading enjoyment:

cyrellis.com

The "First Official Riva TnT Benchmark Results" My favorite quote is where they say that the driver is only 50% of their final form - implying that the speed will double when it is released - NOT!

I suspect that a faster-clocked Voodoo2 might have won some of those benchmarks.

Chip

Re: V2 pricing; V3; games in the pipeline; V/B SLI; Mobile V/B

Mr. Anderson said:
Voodoo2 price cuts should spark more buyers for V2 boards. I'm hopeful TDFX and the board makers will start a campaign to get existing V2 owners to upgrade to SLI setups.

I also would like to see this happen pronto. During my daily prowling of retail vistas, I see customers inspect V2 boards, then decide against buying due to the $230+ price of admission. However, due to the wave of new boardmakers just now embarking on the V2 boat, I'm skeptical of prices falling in the near future. Although one might think that the increased competition between the various V2 boards would spark some price movement, the newcomers want their day in the sun and will be reluctant to cut quickly.

Voodoo3 rumors will start appearing.

I agree, the lack of any company word about the product roadmap is disturbing.

Mr. Anderson said:
"Half-Life" from Valve Software will be released and be a _huge_ hit! As will "Sin", "Daikatana", and (eventually) "Duke Nukem Forever."

Yes, we need these games in release while V2 is top dog.

This would be nice but grasping at straws IMHO. The official word is no SLI on V/B, as you well know.

(Hopefully) Someone figures out how to get Banshee cool enough to fit in a laptop.

Will not happen. The mobile video processor industry is currently almost completely dominated by three firms (CRUS, NMGC, TRID) who make specialized product for it. Notebook users aren't gamers in any case.
