.. Bill, your question is a valid one if we lived in a political vacuum.

Bizarre,

And you are valid only where you live, in an intellectual and moral vacuum.

You must admit that was a pretty wimpy answer.

Clinton receives rare praise from Fidel Castro

MEXICO CITY (AP) -

President Clinton is winning praise from an unusual source - Cuban President Fidel Castro.

The Cuban leader said Tuesday the "balance is positive'' on Clinton's performance in office despite Clinton's support for the Helms-Burton law, which imposes sanctions on companies that invest in Cuba.

"I think Clinton has learned something, he's intelligent and he defends U.S. interests and those of the multinationals, but from a perspective different from that of the extreme right in the United States,'' Castro told reporters, in remarks reported by Cuba's official Prensa Latina news agency.

Castro said Clinton, whom he described as a peaceful, moral man, approved Helms-Burton because he was "looking for votes, above all among those of Cuban origin.''

Castro also criticized the attention paid allegations against Clinton.

"One is repelled by so much hypocrisy. History remembers Latin American presidents ... who were well-respected despite questions which come up about their private lives,'' Castro said.
