The decision in the MSFT case was a landmark one for Intel.

Dave, I agree. This ruling is of great significance to Intel. The FTC was considering broadening its case against Intel because it was alleging that Intel designed its P6 bus to lock out the competition. Intel asserted its P6 bus has technical advantages.
Well, if the judges are wary of trying to understand the browser/Operating System issues, just wait until the Intel Engineers have to try to explain the P6 bus issues to the judges.

Greenspan made the politicians reconsider the issue.
The Appeals Court even more so will make the FTC reconsider broadening the case against Intel.

Another quote from the judges:

The Court also observed that, ''[T]he limited competence of courts to evaluate high-tech product designs and the high cost of error should make them wary of second-guessing the claimed benefits of a particular design decision.'' Therefore, it concluded that courts should avoid trying to balance the potential benefits and costs associated with a particular product design feature, but rather should focus merely on ''whether there is a plausible claim that it brings some advantage.''
