Ron, the Year 2000 issue is gradually becoming more of a topic of conversation as time marches on, even in South Carolina.

COLUMBIA - City and county governments that don't believe their
computer systems could malfunction at the turn of the millennium might suffer
debilitating consequences, said a spokeswoman for the S.C. Municipal
Association.
"There's a lot of people that are in denial," said Sandy Yarnall, who organized
a Year 2000 (Y2K) conference here Tuesday that included - via satellite - about
800 representatives from agencies across the state.
It's already too late for some of those agencies, Yarnall said.

Norm, I didn't know the word "pique" was related to the word "pike". And with all the posts I've made on SI, the number of times I've had second thoughts about a post are too numerous to mention. There is a certain type of mistake I make all the time. I'm sure you notice and are too polite to point it out.

Regarding the different political perspectives, I appreciate the value of your viewpoint. I had been thinking that I had been gradually becoming more liberal over the years, but being too lazy to do such research on my own, I realize I am still an unreconstructed conservative, having lived through the times of Mohammed Mossadegh and Harry Truman. I grit my teeth through the discussions of Monica issues, waiting to learn more about the politics of the Chinese Communists. That is what I get for spending my time on the Sunday morning pundit shows.
