Gene-Re:Is this an indicator of low Celeron acceptance?

I think not. I also saw the ad in the local rag (Raleigh News and Observer)and this is a "Midnight Madness" giveaway similar to what car dealers sometimes do. Vouchers will be distributed between 11:30 pm to first come first served and must be redeemed between 12:30 and 1:38 am. This is a lottery, not a sale.

Have a good day!

Are you afraid of a little marketing?

This is a sad picture of the way the hardware side of things is going. The O/S's share of the pie gets larger and larger, percentage wise and guess who gets all of it.

Acer's new XC line of specialty,"crippled" PC's will start at $199 there's not a lot of room for gravy there.

This one's not an indicator of low Celeron acceptance, just a "gift"
for a lucky few.

>>> A flyer in todays paper has CompUSA selling barebones Celeron PC's for $98.00 as part of their WIN98 promo. These boxes include Celeron 266, 32MB Ram, 2.1 GB hard drive and 24X CDROM. They also include Win98 which is sold seperately for $89.00 There are 10 units available per store. I assume this is a nationwide promo, so we're looking at quite a few Celerons at this price. (I think they have over 150 stores).
I also assume that Intel is somehow involved in this offering. Is this an indicator of low Celeron acceptance? <<<
