AT&T Agrees To Buy TCI for $32B nytimes.com

This is off topic, or is it? My favorite former monopolist (AT&T, they had good engineering) buying my un-favorite current monopolist (but I give John Malone credit for listening to Andy Grove, not Bill). I guess now that the Chicago School has some precedent to point to, it's open season.

Cheers, Dan.

Hi Dan,

>>Re the Caldera suit, coming to trial soon in a courtroom (relatively) near you, I think the ref said that there was an arbitrary check inserted in Windows 3.1 that disabled it (Windows 3.1) in the presence of DR-DOS, or something other than MS-DOS, it had worked ok before that.<<

That's a grey area. I was involed directly in that fiasco, and was interviewed by the FTC panel as a result. I don't think - from what I saw firsthand of the incident - that there was malicious intent involed on the part of MSFT.

FWIW
Andy
