General Instrument's HDTV System Selected by TVN For Movies and Special Events SAN DIEGO, June 24 /PRNewswire/ -- General Instrument Corporation (NYSE: GIC - news) announced today that TVN Entertainment Corporation has agreed to purchase GI's HDTV encoding system for the distribution of TVN movies and special events in HDTV format. TVN will initiate its HDTV service in early 1999 on one of its C-band satellite transponders.
