I have a copy of the April 98 issue of Scientific American and it does not mention PLFM; then again it does not have very much to say about any other companies developing HALE platforms, except for a short mention of the Rutan designed Angel Technologies plane illustrated on the cover. HALE is briefly discussed as offering an alternative to expensive broardband multisatellite systems and the article said that there was growing interest in HALE. All this is old news though...news releases from PLFM are infrequent and what people really want to hear is whether there is any progress in negotiations with the Brazilians, hopefully ink on a contract! Earlier discussion on this thread has focused on the merits of the platform selected by PLFM and whether it is up to the job, still a moot point I think. The demonstration that they staged for the Brazilians was over very different terrain to the likely operational environment and maybe the Brazilians would like to see an extended test in their own backyard before they hand over any cash. That may explain the delay, Richard B
