Such a policy would cause more discontent

THAT'S THE IDEA! I know it may sound silly, but my point is that people, in general, don't really have a clue how much in total taxes, including federal income tax, state income tax, real estate or property tax, sales tax, gasoline tax, toll booths, business taxes, estate taxes, gift taxes, we're all paying.

Question: Who's the largest employer in the state of Minnesota?

Answer: You guessed it, the state of Minnesota.

Something is really wrong in my opinion with this.

Colin, in an old post you responded to:

WSB, Having to send in your taxes in a monthly check would wake
everyone up to the enourmous tax burden we carry.

.
So WHY on earth would we want everyone to feel oppressed, and
force them to make out monthly checks (many people don't even
HAVE checking accounts!) subject to even more oppressive penalties
if they are late???!!!

I apologize for responding to a 4-month old post, but
I have been catching up on the thread (as my tax-planning
season opens) and just couldn't let this one go by.

Of course I disagree<G> as you no doubt know from our earlier
(very productive IMO) exchanges. Specifically, in regard to:

>>Such a policy would cause more discontent, and therefore more
crime, more tax evasion, more non-filers, and therefore an even
GREATER burden on the rest of us!

Such a policy would put tremendous pressure on the miscreants
who misrepresent themselves as our representatives to own up
or get, to borrow a phrase (see below) "rode out on a rail"
at the next election. I, for one, do not believe our current
oppressive tax system could be maintained in the face of it.

I refer to:

>>Dick Armey briefly suggested it a couple years ago and he was
almost laughed out of the House.

He SHOULD have been rode out on a rail!!

And he should be borne back in on a throne, for that one,
though his record otherwise doesn't support it otherwise,
sad to say.

--------

Again, I apologize for the off-the-wall response to such
an old post, but I couldn't resist <GGG>. We disagree so
well, at least from my side of it.

Regards,

Spots
