Sid, I'm also quite interested in these issues and I had never questioned sending HDTV formated movies vs today's version. So, I asked a friend who is very knowledgeable. Here's his answer.

Still, I don't think the eventual need to look at tv on a computer will stimulate hard drive sales in the near term. The rate of change is uncertain, but I feel the market looks at what's going to change things in the next 6 month to a year. Full motion video using HDTV or any format for that matter won't be a mainstream issue.

Looking at the high speed of many corporate users, can you say that they are using video on any level of significance? I don't think so.
