<< It has been said by a few on this thread that an announcement to split THQ stock would really have no impact on the price. ...
We have a market that craves liquidity in fast growing companies. Right now, THQ's float appears to be too
small and can be too easily controlled. More shares out there would mean better liquidity and therefore less
control that can be exercised by MMs or other forces. >>

1. A stock split increases the number of shares but does not increase liquidity.

2. A split may well have an impact on price, even though this makes no financial sense at all. The market is a strange place.

Brian,
MindSpring is an "Internet" company, you can't compare it to THQ. Take a look a Yahoo, I am shocked to see it trading at $150, almost double after it "was" listed in SOL 500. The problem is that the rise of those iStocks aren't backed by fundamental. So when they fall, they fall fast. (for more information, look a 3 months chart of KTEL, it had a 2-for-1 split too.)

When THQ able to stablize above 30s, I think BF will split the stock. It will make the stock appears to be cheaper because its lower price tag.

Bleeker, I guess you know the correct link now. I don't like the current rating very much. The license THQ currently has is WCW, not WWF. So I want WCW in #1 for the rest of 1998. In addition, don't you see the Rugrats has only 2 spots versus 4 last week?

Anyone knows what happen to MVSN? The volume is unbelievable high!!!

Brian-

I think a stock split announcement would have a positive effect on THQI, because it indicates confidence that the stock will go higher. If THQI were to announce a 3-1 split (not likely) when the stock is at $35, the stock would likely rise to $50 or more (pre-split) in a short period of time. This happens because THQ would rather have the stock in the 20s and 30s than at $10, so if the stock is splitting 3-1, management must think the stock will trade much higher.

I do expect a split this year, probably 2-1 when the stock gets to $40 or so.
