Kash - Re: "Of course product that is already metallized and in packaging will still be scrap."

This is not true.

The XEON works fine in a one or two-processor system, using the 440GX chip set.

This will be the standard configuration for workstations - so all the existing XEONS will be generating excellent revenue.

RE:"delay might only be 2-3 weeks."

Kash,

The top ten reasons why not-

10. New masks
9. Wafer starts
8. Wafer completions
7. Mask qualifications
6. Test
5. Motherboard assembly
4. Board test
3. Volume production
2. High volume availability

And the big #1. It isn't really a uCode bug. Intel is hoping that they can hide the problem with a uCode hack until they come up with the real fix.

Anyway, the great thing about the x86 world is that you can ultimately blame all bugs on Microsoft.
