Mb/Shorting
Hi David...I should clarify myself...all clients of any brokers who trade under Southwest Securities until recently have been given a list of about a hundred stocks that we could not short.....all others were fair game. But do do recent abuse...i.e. traders shorting stocks on the "no short" list....borrowing shares that were not legally available.....Southwest clamped down, and Mb gave us a list of a couple hundred stocks to short without question....all others, we need to call in so that they can locate shares to borrow, and then they must place the trade for you, or your entry anyway.....your exit is still in your hands. After being spoiled by their superb trading platform and service...it's a major inconvenience having these new rules implemented. There is a block in place that prevents one from trading these stocks on the short side, hence the need for Mb to start the trade for you. I spend alot of time on the short side, and more often than not, the trade is long gone before i could start the process of locating shares. Other than this new development, I consider MbTrading to be a superb tool for the daytrader. Hope this helps..
