Didn't INTC learn from their mistake the last time they had a flawed chip? I am going to have to read up on this flaw to see just how serious it is. The last flaw only affected highly scientific calculations, something on the NSF folks might have been able to detect, but yet it was a disastrous nightmare for INTC. Maybe lightening does strike twice?

OFF TOPIC : As a general motors dealer I would like to offer an inside perspective on
the recent UAW strike with General Motors.

I hope you take time to listen.

As a dealer my future income greatly depends on the continued flow of high quality price
competitive products.I for one have been very critical of G.M. 's lack of competitive
pricing policies.I believe that the Local U.A.W. Leaders at Flint metal fab must come to
a day a reckoning that "our world is one of a fiercely competitive global forces and that
the old days of "Piece work labor pricing" is long gone and maximum efficiency is where
tomorrows auto manufacturers will be with or without the U.A.W..

As a 19 year old man I worked in Flint with my brothers of the U.A.W..
I have saved and invested and now sell the product I used to make.The workers of the
U.A.W. are good people. They are proud people who know quality is a must for their
future livelihood to be assured.This strike has occurred over 1500 workers who are
part of the engine cradle assembly dept.

In 1995 these workers had an agreement that allowed them to make a set number of
cradles in an 8 hour day. G.M. invested 120 million which now allows this set number of
cradles to be produced in about 6 and 1/2 hours - They then sit around for the clock to
hit 4:30 and then at time and a half they resume production.These 1500 employees
average 69000 annual income and 29000 in benefits.So their game is working quite
well.I think Bill clinton would call them the wealthy.
Almost 30 million dollars of O/T was paid out at this plant in 1997.

As I see it G.M. is bracing for a long strike !

Having been a field rep for 10 years in chevrolet I have many friends
still employed by G.M. They have been instructed to:

Not travel unless absolutely required.
Put your cell phone on the back seat (minimize usage)
Do not buy meals when traveling

In short Capital Conservation

As a dealer My inventory is at an all time high
As a director of our advertising group our plans are being reviewed weekly with a
business as usual approach thru at least july.

As a past member of the U.A.W. and not very different from their way of thinking - I
wouldn't want to be in the 1500 group that has caused over 100,000 rank and file
members to be accepting 150.00 /week verses the usual 1000.00 / week.These people
have nice life styles usually quite debt-laden with the new truck, harley, and jetski.

As a dealer who works hard to achieve marketplace dominance in my franchise
offerrings it P.O.'s me to see leadership efforts go down the drain (and the alredy have
because of this strike)because some local U.A.W. leader won't give up an inneficient
business model of labor pricing that went the way of G.M. being sued for antitrust
monopoly problem.

That Dog Just Aint Gonna Hunt No More!

In summary I'm glad G.M. is taking its courageous stand to be strong efficient and
competitive.It is about time!

I hope this strike brings about sanity in Flint - keep in mind all G.M. wants is what is
already accepted in other locations now.

I think that if this strike really kills G.M.'s stock price -it will be a great call play. Upon
the busting up of this good ol boy club in the Flint engine cradle dept. ( The home of " to
hell with the company I'm greedy workers"),I'm going long G.M.. Sorry about the verbose post but it does set up a great potential trade and you just got
from an inside player.

I do know what I am talking about and if any body thinks it is not the truth they are
being fooled by U.A.W.patriotism spin doctors!
