When I first began internet trading, I thought that daytrading was the ideal. If I could just go around and scalp a 1/4 and 3/8 there. That can be done, and if you are good you can make a few dollars. The problem is few. Recently, Merill Lynch for example went from $60 to $90, that is making money. A great short, of course, would be Boston Chicken anytime over the last year, or shorting Motorola. I used to buy and sell Merrill Lynch in thousand share lots both long and shorts four or five time a day last August. I used it up against the Dow and could scalp 1/4 and 3/8 all day long. At the end of the day I might make $1000. Sometimes I would lose $1000. I learned that if I wanted to make real money, many thousands, that I was better off on longer term holds on the BB. So that is what I do.
