John,there is no $5.00 minimum. The guideline set is it has to be marginable-and that is up to the broker..(many think it is $3.00, that is false as well) ..DD
PS: most these guys won't short a low float stock,to risky,not enough liquidity..

You don't know what you're talking about concerning shorting:

First, I have spoken with the SEC and ANYONE can short ANY stock. BUT, it generally is broker's policy not to let anyone short stocks. It's up to brokers but it's not a question of legality. MM's in the U.S. short stock and do so as a matter of course. I do believe that most BB stock is shorted by MM's.

I also think that most of the time, investors use SHORTING as an excuse for why a stock price is sinking.

AND, I don't know why the price is going down. It is rather disappointing UNLESS I am considering a larger investment. Hmmmmm.
