<<If the value is given & the calculation straightforward, why were you unwilling to provide it?>> Truly amazing, Bernie. If you've ever looked at a financial report, you would know that 'book value' is given. I'll break this down a little further for you...there's no need to calculate 'book value' because they do it for you! *However*, if you choose to verify the number, that's easy, too! The numbers are right there on the balance sheet! You have to punch a lot of numbers in your calculator, but it's the "asset" numbers less the "debt" numbers. It's actually easy! Will I do this for you on SI??? No!!! But I gave the value (48 cents) in my response to Celeryroot. Back to Murphy. I'm sure you won't believe me when I say one of Murphy's slimey tactics is to float bogus rumors and watch his naive followers react to help him make money. I'll say this slowly...he has no regard for his subscribers...he *uses* them to move the market so *he* can make money, cover losses, etc. This is not a secret!!! And I'm sure you really won't believe me when I say Murphy recently floated a bogus rumor about a new Amylin partnership so he could cover some of his Amylin losses. I could go on with other stories, but what's the point?! Am I going to "prove" this? No. I have better things to do. Let's do something for fun...Hulbert, I'm sure, has a web presence. Search under 'Hulbert Financial Digest', look for Mark Hulbert's e-mail address, and send him an e-mail. Tell him you're interested in Murphy's publication, that someone on SI is saying disparaging things about Murphy and his newsletter, and that you'd like Mark Hulbert's opinion/ranking of Murphy's letter. Then report back to us! Rudy

bernie, here are the facts. murphy's nl was top-rated by forbes for 96 and #2 for 10 yrs. 87-96. but his current rating is much lower.

forbes.com

i have subscribed for 5 years and know that murphy has great value in terms of detailing basic research and technology but he also has made major mistakes and has a tremendous ego which allows him to see the world in an us (murphy) vs. them (wall street) scenario. kind of reminds of tony's view of the world. murphy's research should be considered as a starting point, that's all.

tony and his followers constantly accuse others of spinning while they clearly put a negative, accusatory spin on everything. OTOH, there are many of us who would like this thread to include substantive information on LGND, both positive and negative. I know you feel that way and so do i.
