Which Proxy server are you using? I think that Microsoft's proxy wanted registered IP numbers for the clients on the lan. So I went with "Winproxy" after trying "Open Sesame" and "Wingate" It is Socks 4 and 5 compatible, and works with little overhead. What I am seeing and hearing is that Market Trac and others are bandwidth intensive legacy programs dressed up in windows. And as a result have to be run on the server (or link to the lan) and drag down other internet access through that machine. I think there may be a larger overiding issue that I am just getting a feel for. I believe that the host machines the big boys and the programmers are working with are in large part large mainframes and legacy machines. The powers that are working on the problem are only just beginning to get the pressure from the consumer for this type of performance.

Still looking for the right Level II for a intranet user to go through a proxy/firewall to the internet.
