Lets not get this confused, AMZN is a huge buyer of net advertising not the other way around.. I would love to know what their ad budget is. Gotta be huge..

This is one of thing that might work for them or maybe not work for them. Selling ads from retail sites could make sense, when you just assume that visitors will come back to buy some books, after looking at advertised sites, but I believe some of them won't.
There are certain percentage to these question, but I forgot what those numbers are. Something like 60-80% of sending hits (visitors) don't come back to the original site.

This is a great idea. I believe Border.com and barnesandnoble.com would be willing to advertise on the Amazon.con page;-)
