Sorry to disappoint you, Dave, but if Slick can squeeze through the rest of his term without a major economic crash, history will love him. Prosperity uber alles, it's the American way. We could debate for a year or more over who was really responsible, but most of us have done rather well out of his term.

And if you want to get into it, I'm not sure screwing Monica was much less moral than running an undeclared war on Nicaragua simply because we didn't care for their politics. Ron & George lied a bit about that one too, I recall.

On topic, for a change: I like guns. I grew up with guns. But a few years back, a neighbor bought one to use on a hypothetical crook, and proceeded to get drunk and get in an argument with his wife. That story ended up with her coming very close to dying, and him in jail. Would he have knifed her if he didn't have the gun? I doubt it.

I don't know what the middle ground is between total freedom to own guns and total banning of guns. But there's got to be one. And I don't think what we've found it.
