>>I think if Westell is to be sold, they are either sold already, or they will not be sold at all When or if a buyout does happen, somebody will spill the beans at least a few days in advance and the stock volume will start to rise<<.

Eric; It's possible that an agreement might have already been reached. I'd be willing to bet though, if that's the case, only the Trustee's, Robert Penny & Melvin Simon and the board know about it to avoid another situation similar to what happened with Amati. I spoke to a financial lawyer and he told me the Trustees have the power to vote for the trust, they can make the decision without polling the beneficiaries, & that they have a fiduciary responsibility to act in the best interests of the trust, which I would think would mean voting whatever the board decided was best for themselves & the shareholders. Bottom line, if it's done there might not be any leaks this time.

>>I see Westell like a contract option. Their time premium is running out. That is, the unique equipment they have devaluates the farther out in time we go. (What does not devaluate is their field experience and that is worth something)<<.

I agree with that, but there's also another way to look at the situation. I'm beginning to think their partnership with Lucent is more than meets the eye. I was really encouraged to see Lucent is marketing the DLSAM. They also seem to be involved in several products which will become available later in the year. When these products hit the street it could be huge for Westell.

>>The other day the CEO of PAIR was on CNBC and responded to a possible merger question by saying they would "like to be talking to LU". Now that would be scary for Westell wouldn't it?<<

No doubt about it. He really tried to distance PAIR from ADSL didn't he.

>>I think that if Westell were such a strong key player one of the other gorillas different from LU would be making a play for them NOW. But it does not look like that is happening<<

We'll never know. Because the Class B shares have the majority of the voting rights it's impossible to take them over unless the Trustees want to sell.

>>At this moment it makes me believe that Westell is not the most important player standing on the chess board<<

Can't argue w/that, at least in the view of the market. Only time will tell. Good luck. Dave
