Apparently Simplot was short the shares in some kind of transaction from July '96 or so. Looks like the price wasn't much better then.

Interesting, but aside from making a small reduction in short interest -- no significance?

Looks like part of forward sale: Bank automatically took short
position for the transition. If I remember correctly money goes
/or went to the estate and some of it to margin calls and to cover
his loss in copper investment.
