<<What's to stop another no-name company from making the same attempt that Nomai did? If so, will the legal battles start all over again? Instead of a French company, this time around it could be an Asian company, no?>>

My take on it is that by getting Nomai to 'fess up about reverse engineering their code they demonstrated copyright infringement, hopefully to ward off others.

Neil.

Zead, >>What's to stop another no-name company from making the same attempt that Nomai did? If so, will the legal battles start all over again?<<

I don't think you can ever guarantee that no company would try to copy another company's products. However, in Iomega's case, Nomai had been working toward making copies for quite a long time. If another company was now to try the same thing starting essentially from scratch, they got a long row to hoe.

BTW, someone on the APPL thread included a URL to a web site claiming to have whisper numbers:

whispernumber.com

I would think that Iomega would put some new wrinkle in to prevent legal cloning. One would hope.

This company is still far from out of the woods and I would very cautious with committing new funds to it. Management needs to show me that they are clean, Sony has to fail to come in with an acceptable price point on their drive, and margins need to improve. Oh and Clik needs to be canned and written off.
