Here are a few articles I came across regarding the IP tele world: Datamonitor, a market research firm, has just released 'IP Telephony Markets in Europe and the US: Beyond Internet Voice', a VoIP market study. Datamonitor's report forecasts the growth of equipment and service markets through the year 2002. Datamonitor projects that IP telephony will represent over 10 percent of international telephony by 2002, and that gateway revenues will reach $2.5 billion. For further details, email htsales@datamonitor.com.Datamonitor datamonitor.com WE ARE IN EUROPE, and EXPANDING. (I have spoken to Mr. Lietzmann in GERMANY at least three times to verify this) NKO has announced that Australian based Ritemore will offer its IP telephony services including the Prepaid Phone Card program. The Prepaid Phone Cards are offered in varying rates and denominations. The phone cards will enable users place calls to and from Australia with the abilities to transfer analog calls to digital calls. The service will be billed at flat rates. In addition to the Australian POP, NKO's managed IP-based network includes POPs in Brazil and Israel, with POPs scheduled for deployment in Korea and Mexico. NKO nko.com WE ESTABLISHED AN OFFICE AND A TIE WITH NETRO OF AUSTRAILIA SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. (I e-mailed Netro, our Aussie connection, twice to verify our contract with them and received a postivie response twice) Loxley Information Services has beseeched the Communications Authority of Thailand (CAT) and the Ministry of Transport and Communications to approve its application for a PC to phone Internet telephony service. The regulatory agencies are expected to hand down a decision within the next two months. CAT receives much of its funding from the traditional telephony charges that it levies, so besides examining Loxley's service proposal, it is also exploring the possibility of providing PC to phone and phone to phone Internet telephony services with Chungwa Telecom of Taiwan. Loxley Information Servicesloxley.co.th I AM NOT SURE JC HAS BEEN TO THAILAND, BUT WE HAVE A PHONE COMPANY IN INDONESIA AND JC HAS BEEN TO MANILA.................... (Others called Jakarta a few months ago and Kurt just verified the conenction with UBS- JAKARTA) ITF, a telecommunications provider, has announced that it will use e-Net's hardware and software products for an Internet telephony service between Miami and South American countries. According to the terms of the agreement, ITF will purchase twelve of e-Net's Telecom 2000 T-1/E-1 Gateways including software and licenses, Gateway Management and Gateway Billing services, and a quantity of the NetConnect telephony cards. ITF will offer the service under the name Speak2Phone. To access the service, ITF customers will need to install a NetConnect telephony card into a PC then plug an traditional telephone into the card's telephone jack. Users will also be able to access the service via traditional phones by dialing into an ITF gateway, entering an access code and then the destination telephone number. ITF has indicated that it will purchase additional e-Net products to be used to expand the VoIP service offerings into other major markets in Latin and South America. e-Net datatelephony.com JC HAS BEEN TO LATIN AMERICA, IN FACT HE WAS IN BRAZIL, AND WE KNOW THAT HE TRAVELS TO CLOSE DEALS....... (We will try to get verification of Latin America deals when they are announced- OH, they have YET to be announced!) So, we see here at least THREE separate companies trying to link up with various parts of the world, How about ONE COMPANY that is establishing contracts and setting up servers in virtually every continent? As JC said, "IBM was not built in a night". If a BIG company wanted to establish GLOBAL presence immediately, DGIV sounds quite attractive. Many thanks to Danimal, Kurt, Bullamrket, and others who keep the focus where it should be.
