Linda - Press releases shouldn't use words that are so narrowly used and which aren't in the dicionaries

Again wow. There goes ASIC, DRAM, CDMA, demodulator, baseband, vocoder, Ms., afro-american, ... . I just don't get it. If it is a word that everyone in the target audience will understand, and it is the only word available for the job, then shouldn't it be used even though it isn't in the dictionary? One of the primary strengths of the English language (vs, say French) is precisely this flexibility.

linda y daniel--

she is right about that. its one thing to use it in an internal memo from one engineer to another, but in talking to the general public they need to be more circumspect. after all, we are morons who dont know anything about technology, other than that we want to be in MU on its next trip to 95<G>.

good luck to all,
trey
