Exactly. It is the cost of insurance that makes society a victim. I'm not a big fan of the insurance system as a whole. But with that system in place the actions of an individual have an influence on everyone. But the freedom to eat as one desires is factored into the cost of insurance. We as a society will pay for bypass surgery and other health related probelms caused by obesity. I'm all for that. Eat all you want, get fat have a heart attack and society will help pick up the health costs. I have no problem with that.

But I am not in favor of supporting the costs to the health care system, and property and workmans comp and unemployment and broken families that are caused by some of the people who use drugs. Even though using drugs is a similar personal desire and means of gratification as is eating butter.
