UPI Press release 12/1/98 approx 16:00 EST:

(DENVER) _ Denver-based Frontier Airlines may merge with Vanguard
Airlines, a close competitor. Operating out of Denver International
Airport, Frontier has 17 jets serving to 15 cities. The discount
carrier plans to add flights to Las Vegas, Dallas and Atlanta later
this month. Vanguard has a nine-airplane fleet, with most service to
midwestern cities. The plan comes slightly more than a year after talks between Frontier and Western Pacific collapsed. Western Pacific
eventually went belly-up.
