Yes, truly was a brilliant match---

I thought Ince, Adams, and Campbell played a superb game. England went 75 minutes playing one man short and to hold Argentina scoreless is nothing short of top notch.

The match is not 4 hours old and already Beckham is being slammed in the English press. They are really taking it to the young lad. Hoddle and Beckham have always had a shaky relationship--Beckham was held out of the opener against Tunisia and it took an open shot from Man Utd skipper at Hoddle to get Beckham in the lineup. He is a great striker but has always had problems with his temper. Red card was deserving if you ask me.

It is interesting to find out that the 5th man that took the pk for England--Batty--had never in his life taken one before. World Cup--and Hoddle puts Batty last...very skeptical. I would have inserted Tony Adams in before Batty. I liked Shearer going first--I may have let Owen go last. Too bad Lesaux (great match from the Chelsea lad) and Scholes were not around late.

Owen--what can you say. He went the entire way even with a very capable Teddy Sheeringham on the bench. The Liverpool striker Owen is so good in the open field and has tremendous speed.

Anyways--brilliant match. Just brilliant! Cant wait for the English Premier league to start August 15.
