Well, your reply to Hangin makes me happy too, because it sounds as though you know more about this stuff than I do, and your understanding of it seems to be similar to mine....so maybe I did get it right. One thing that I DO understand is psychology...and sweetie, all of you who get all belligerent with those making fun of you are playing right into their hands. You are doing what they have set out for you to do. Come on, baby....do you want someone else to dictate YOUR response? You were just dictated to, and quite well, I might add. Your response was very predictable. Even I could predict it. What you want to do is to throw them off, and respond in a way that is not predictable. Wanna try it? It's fun. And sometimes the most fun thing to do is to take over control of the situation. Just remember....WE control this thread. Howard...remember when we had a 1200bps modem??? how do you think we got to 56K modem...proprietary competition...there was no standards committee that developed the algorithms and said,,,ok here is the standard....Haris and others wanted to make faster modems and they worked in their labs, (like I do) came up with the algorithms, and implemented them.....standard came after they were implemented...DGIV may have the 56K standard if you get my analogy... Craig, that is the most lucid and useful explanation I have seen in all the months I have been here. You have TOTALLY satisfied any worries I may have had....and should satisfy any other reasonable person. The proprietary part is not on the network side, it is on the user side. And if the proprietary alogorith can reduce bandwidth, so much the better! Your post should be repeated every few days. Another non-sensical statement. The only non-proprietary item here is the IP protocol. I guess you have a DGIV POP nearby? On the other hand I guess you could by one of VOXWare's PC phones. Whoops they don't make them anymore!<\i>
