It's true that any company can copy a business model, but can they implement it better?

It seems to me that you are probably correct that the model could be copied. The question is whether the upper management of another company would be as receptive as Mike Dell is to listening to new ideas. It seems to me that in a lot of companies, there are plenty of good ideas that don't get implemented because some upper management decides that 'they' can't take the chance!
