He did say that whoever loved the Lord God with all heart, mind and soul, and love your neighbor as yourself you have fulfilled all the commandments. But He did not say that would bring eternal life. Sorry Bob. When asked how to achieve eternal life, Jesus (Pbuh) neither mentioned the crucifixion, being born again, the trinity, or worshipping him. He ONLY mentioned Keeping the Commandments. Don't believe me? "And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life ? And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness. Honor thy father and [thy] mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go [and] sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come [and] follow me." Matthew 19:16-21. Here, a person asks an important question and Jesus (Pbuh) makes 2 important answers. First the questioner calls Jesus (Pbuh) "Good Master" and asks him how shall he achieve eternal life? Here are 2 important points: Calling him "Good Master" and how shall he "achieve eternal life." And Jesus (Pbuh) first corrects him and says, "Why callest me Good? There is None Good but ONE, and that is God." Now, if we are to believe Jesus (Pbuh) IS God, why would he question the title of "Good?" It makes no sense. If Jesus (Pbuh) were God, he would not correct the questioner on this vital point of being called "Good."Secondly , Jesus (Pbuh) goes on to answer the questioner on how to achieve eternal life, and in his answer he only mentions the keeping of the Commandments. He does not mention belief in the crucifixion, he does not mention blood atonement, he does not mention believing that Christ is God. None of them are mentioned. Why? Are those things not important? Do you think Jesus (Pbuh) was in a hurry so he only mentioned one or two points? It makes no sense! Unless you believe that Jesus (Pbuh) did not teach believing in the Crucifixion and admit that Jesus (Pbuh) was not God - for he never claimed it nor did he ever require it. Ray
