I don't know. I'm confused. Thinking about just going to all cash and forgetting about the market for a while.

Maybe I'll hang on to some of my long term losers for nostalgia sake. :-)

PS. The move up has been kind of violent, don't you think? What has changed? There was the intervention to prop the yen and everybody thought we had to have a summer rally and now we have or have we? Everything else seems the same.

Why did stocks take off again the past few weeks? Makes no sense.

Suckers concluded that who so ever did not warn are going to report nice profit numbers. But after the close there are more warnings. At least three high profile names in them: CPU, KLAC, PMTC
Very soon the list of techstocks will be just two "nobrainers" CSCO and MSFT. -g-

CompUSA (CPU) 17 9/16 -9/16: Computer retailer warns that fiscal fourth quarter (Jun) will post a loss of between
$0.15 and $0.20 per share (and that excludes an expected charge), well below current expectations of a profit of
$0.07 per share. Also announces plans for new information technology strategy. Press releases.....

Browning-Ferris (BFI) 35 7/8 +1 1/8: waste management concerns announces plan to buyback up to $750 mln of its
stock; says that it has already bought back $1.5 bln shares since October 1997.....

Indus International Inc. (IINT) 11 1/2 -1/2: developer and marketer of enterprise asset management software and
service solutions is warning that it expects Q2 earnings to come in below Wall Street consensus; sees Q2 net about
break even, vs market consensus of $0.12 a share.....

TSI Inc (TSII) 8 5/16 +3/16: manufacturer of measuring and control instruments warning of earnings shortfall; sees
Q1 earnings of $0.10-$0.12 a share on revenues of $18-$19 mln. Based on a First Call survey of 1 analyst, company

Morrison Health Care (MHI) 18 3/4 -1/4: provider of food and nutrition services departments to hospitals records
a fiscal Q4 net of $0.25 a share, in line with the First Call estimate, vs year-ago profit of $0.23 a share; company
raises its long-term earnings per share growth targets to 13%-18%; see press release.....

Electroglas Inc. (EGLS) 13 -1/16: manufacturer and supplier of automatic wafer probing systems and sort floor
software is warning that it sees Q2 results Wall Street expectations; expects revenues of around $27 mln and a share
loss larger than market consensus of $0.19 a share; in the year-ago period, it earned $0.15 a share; see press

ChemFirst Inc (CEM) 25 5/8 +3/8: company warning that Q2 earnings will come in approx. 7 to 9 cents below
expectations. Based on a First Call survey of 1 analyst, CEM was expected to earn $0.29 a share for the qtr; says

Insignia Solutions Plc. (INSGY) 1 3/16 +1/8: provider of virtual machine/emulation technology is warning that it
expects to record a larger Q2 operating loss than the one posted in Q1; in Q1, INSGY reported a loss of $3.4 million,
excluding the sale of its NTRIGUE product line for $17.7 million, on revenues of $5.0 mln; see press release.....

Schlotzsky's Inc. (BUNZ) made-to-order sandwiches franchisor is warning that it expects Q2 earnings of between
$0.19 a and $0.21 a share, below the First Call consensus of $0.24 a share; expects full-year earnings of between

Chip Sales: according to the Semiconductor Industry Association, global chip sales in May totaled $9.99 bln, a

Parametric Technology (PMTC) 24 13/16 -2 5/16: software developer warning of disappointing Q3 and Q4

week after one analyst expressed concern about company's ability to meet revenue forecasts, yet maintained her

Ikos Systems Inc. (IKOS) 4 1/32 +1/8: maker of hardware and software systems for the verification of integrated
circuits is warning that it expects to record a fiscal Q3 operating loss of between $6 mln and $7 mln; according to First
Call, company was expected to earn $0.04 a share, vs year-ago profit of $0.23 a share; see press release.....

Jones Pharma Inc. (JMED) 33 1/8 unch: manufacturer and distributor of specialty pharmaceutical products says that
it sees sales for Q2 at around $27 mln, vs year-ago level of $19 mln; in Q1 it had sales of $23.7 mln when it earned
$0.25 a share; expects to take a one-time non-cash charge of $10.5 mln in Q2; according to First Call, JMED
projected to earn $0.28 in Q2, vs year-ago net of $0.22 a share; see press release.....

Barringer Technologies (BARR) 9 3.4 +5/16: manufacturer of bomb detection equipment warning of disappointing
Q2 results: excluding charges, sees earnings of $0.10 to $0.14 vs the $0.15 a share First Call mean estimate; puts
revenues at $5 to $5.5 mln; see press release...

SpeedFam International (SFAM) 18 1/2 +1/16: maker of chemical mechanical planarization systems posts a fiscal
Q4 loss of $0.07 a share, a penny narrower than the First Call estimate, vs year-ago profit of $0.46 a share; revenues
fell 46.3% to $26.5 mln; see press release.....

Gensym Corp (GNSM) 4 13/32 -1/32: software products and services company warning of Q2 shortfall; projects
Q2 EPS of a loss of $0.04 a share to breakeven. Based on a First Call survey of 1 analyst, GNSM was expected to
report a $0.05 a share profit.....

Red Brick Systems Inc. (REDB) 4 -1/8: designer and developer of client/server relational database management
systems announces that CFO Margaret Brauns has resigned and that it has appointed Phillip Fernandez as its chief

US Industries Inc. (USI) 25 5/8 +7/8: manufacturer and distributor of consumer, building and industrial products is
warning that it expects fiscal Q3 earnings to come in between $0.30 and $0.35 a share, below the First Call estimate
of 0.52 vs year-ago net of $0.44 a share; expects FY98 EPS to surpass $1.50 a share earned in FY97, excluding
charges, but the First Call consensus had projected a net of $1.77 a share; blames difficulties in diversified units for

KLA Tencor Corp. (KLAC) 27 11/16 unch: semiconductor equipment manufacturer is warning that fiscal Q4 results
are below Wall Street expectations; sees Q4 revenues down about 10% from Q3 level of $274.16 mln when it earned
$0.35 a share; according to First Call, KLAC was projected to earn $0.34 a share, vs year-ago net of $0.48 a share;

Mosaix Inc. (MOSX) 9 15/16 +1/8: provider of predictive dialing systems, workflow software and enterprise
customer management solutions is warning that Q2 revenues and earnings will come in below Wall Street expectations;
sees revenues between $24 and $25 mln and a net loss of between $0.10 and $0.15 a share; according to First Call,
