>>Packard Bell suffered from a continuing consumer perception that
it lagged the competition in quality and service.<<

I don't think that 3Com has any problems with perceptions of
quality and service.

The problem (IMO) is that ANALysts want to see 56K modem
sales NOW. They also wonder if the 56K market will
lose out to xDSL and Cable modems. That's another reason
they want to see x2 56K Modem $$ in the hand NOW.

AND because of the possibility of the 56K modem being
short-lived (in their non-tech minds), they want to see
3Com's product transition translated into $$. (The
beginnings of this is possibly what was most attractive
to ANALysts - IMO)

That's the message I'm getting from the ANALyst. Maybe
we can't blame them???

Oops, I apologize. I meant to post that message to Compaq thread. Didn't mean to connect it to 3Com.
BTW, I love 3Com's products and services so far. Sometimes I felt that they might be too generous. I got my V90 upgrade modem board free in the mail. I already got the free chip upgrade from 33K to X2 56K before. All because I bought a $60-70 modem last year.

Hope the customers will pay back in kind with returned business and that their good reputation in this regard will pay off soon.
