What's all this talk about modem sales? Who cares about modem sales? Modems haven't been profitable for years. There are no margins in modems. I'm sick of all this talk about modems. COMS can make money off RAC equipment but not from the diddly squat modems that sit on store shelves. Let's get back to the Palm Pilot or Gigabit Ethernet or something.

My question is, if they buy it, why COMS drops ? 56k modems will lose out to cable and more likely adsl, because adsl will use the same copper wires, and not need phone company intervention to install. coms has both ready to replace analog modems when the time arrives.

Oops, I apologize. I meant to post that message to Compaq thread. Didn't mean to connect it to 3Com. BTW, I love 3Com's products and services so far. Sometimes I felt that they might be too generous. I got my V90 upgrade modem board free in the mail. I already got the free chip upgrade from 33K to X2 56K before. All because I bought a $60-70 modem last year. Hope the customers will pay back in kind with returned business and that their good reputation in this regard will pay off soon.
